FAQ

I’m new to yoga and barre. What do I need to know?

Our studio caters to beginners – it’s our specialty

We’re so excited you’re here! We’ll do our best to make you feel at home. Our instructors are great at giving 1:1 attention and all of our classes are beginner-friendly. If you’ve never done yoga before, the best place to start is with our Breathe or Begin class – those classes are fabulous for introducing the poses and slowly teaching proper form.

Our New Client Special allows you to check out our studio to see what works for you! We’ll be there to greet you from your very first class, will help you get set up, and will even introduce you to one of our veteran members if you like.

I’m not flexible at all. Will I feel out of place?

Our students don’t come to yoga because they’re flexible – they come to yoga to GET flexible! We’ve welcomed students who haven’t been able to touch their toes in years and have helped them get there!

How do I book a class?

Simply download the Breathe Yoga + Barre app on your iPhone or Android device, or visit our booking page HERE.

You’ll be taken through the process once you hit the BOOK button.

Where should I park?

We have free parking in the back of the building. You are welcome to park in the lower lot during the daytime classes, and in the upper mezzanine lot for your evening classes.

What should I bring?

You don’t need anything (except maybe a water bottle)! That’s part of our service to you.

Some students like to bring a mat of their own, but we have plenty of mats at the studio for you to use, along with anything else you might need!

If a specific class will require anything special, we’ll let you know ahead of time.

What should I wear?

For our barre classes, we require leggings below the knee (no shorts!) and covered midriff. For yoga classes, feel free to wear anything that’s comfortable for you (shorts are perfectly OK).

For our aerial classes, we ask that you wear form-fitting long sleeves and long pants to protect the silks.

What is Barre?

Barre is a blend of yoga, Pilates and ballet movements designed to strengthen your entire body with no impact to your joints. In class, you’ll use only your bodyweight and a light set of hand weights to move through tiny, focused movements to tone every muscle, develop flexibility and clear your mind.

At the Breathe studio, we teach barre in its original tradition for stellar results!

Will class be hard?

Barre, yoga and Pilates classes can be very difficult depending on the amount of effort you put in. If you are using the correct form and engaging the proper muscles, class should be HARD! If you are new, feel free to take some breaks. If you would like to know if you are incorporating the right muscles, talk to one of our instructors before or after class.

If you are looking to relax instead of work, we also have restorative aerial and yoga classes!

How often should I come to class?

If you can make it to class at least two days a week, you’ll start to notice increased strength, better posture and flexibility within a few weeks!

What are your studio policies?

You can view all of our studio policies here. Keep in mind that by using our website or custom app, or by booking a class, you are agreeing to these policies.
